Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian musician and singer. She's released over 20 albums. Her music is classified by DiFranco as alternative, folk rock but also has influences from jazz and hip-hop. Ani DiFranco, who is widely known as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the father of DIY music. She was among the pioneers to start an independent label back in the year 1990. DiFranco has two daughters: Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian origin and her mother hails from Montreal. Ani DiFranco sang and wrote 32 Flavors.
